Tell us about your wedding day. Where did you get married?

We were married June 16th in the backyard of Emily's childhood home in Los Gatos, CA. The yard is one of our favourite places and is filled with the native plants of California.

What did you envision for your big day?
As we were thinking about what we wanted our wedding to look like, we wanted it to be colourful and joyous. When we visited the factory in Nairobi we fell in love with the tablecloths for that reason. We absolutely loved the colour within them, in the photos you can see hanging pennants that Emily's mother Liz sewed from deadstock fabric to complete the look. We also had the wonderful opportunity to gift many of the tablecloths to others who participated in our wedding as a way to remember the day.
What's your fondest memory from your wedding day?
It's difficult to pick a single happy memory. When we set out to plan our wedding we said we wanted it to a "wedding themed dinner party." One of our favourite things in the world is to have friends and family to our house for a night of dinner, wine (usually one bottle more than you expected) and conversation. There is something so special about how relationships form and grow around the dinner table. Our wedding was the opportunity to recreate that on a much larger scale. We sat family style and shared a meal that included the cake my grandmother used to make for me for my birthday. We loved seeing people from the various parts of our life meet and forge new bonds over a meal.  We felt so very loved and celebrated.

About the #MySiafu Series

It is one thing to create something that we think is beautiful, but something else entirely to see it come to life out in the world. So today we kick off a new series #MySiafu which showcases the way our clients and customers inspire us with their styling and flair.
